Public Works

The Public Works Department staff represents one-quarter of the City’s workforce with 63 employees within the department’s nine divisions. 

Responsibilities

Public Works is responsible for providing drinking, irrigation, and fire protection water services along with the upkeep of all City buildings, City vehicles, City-owned streets, and grounds maintenance tasks for all City-owned properties. 

These responsibilities also include the protection and maintenance of all lakes, storm drains, and wastewater collection systems within the City, as well as preservation and maintenance responsibilities for more than 110 sites including ballfields, buildings, grounds, parks, rights-of-ways and undeveloped lots.

You can contact the Public Works Department between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays to report concerns with water or wastewater connections, roadways, traffic signals and sidewalk maintenance, storm drainage or lake maintenance within the city.

Advisory Boards

Along with these responsibilities the Public Works Department also provides staff liaisons for two City advisory boards, the Transportation Advisory Board and the Lakes Advisory Board.
