Construction will wrap up by Mid May for new sidewalks extending nearly a third of a mile along Mohican Trail between Arapaho Trail and North Thistle Lane.
The project creates new sidewalk for several blocks as well as connect some areas with existing sidewalks. The sidewalk route, which alternates between each side of Mohican, will improve pedestrian safety in the largely residential area north of Maitland Middle School and Dommerich Elementary School.
Several residential driveways also will be reconstructed where the sidewalk crosses them. Work will be coordinated with other city projects and is expected to take up to three months to complete.
Maitland recently completed new sidewalks along Dommerich Drive and Choctaw Trail. A new recreational trail was completed along Sandspur Road. Another trail soon will be completed along part of Fennell Street west of North Keller Road.
