Water service will be interrupted beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday for about 40 homes along Cove Colony Road and the surrounding neighborhood to allow for emergency repairs to a broken water main. Repairs are expected to be completed, restoring water service within four hours.
Upon resuming service, the City of Maitland will issue a precautionary boil-water notice in this area. Neighbors are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth,or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
Customers may initially notice a slight discoloration or very small amounts of sediments in the water. If so, run cold water from a bathtub or shower for a few seconds until the appearance clears up.
The notice will remain in effect until drinking water test results pass for two consecutive days, as per Florida Administrative Code. The city will notify residents when the precautionary boil water notice is lifted.
