Belated congratulations to Lt. Bonas on his recent retirement from the Maitland Police Department.
Bonus served Maitland for 25 years, starting out as a reserve patrol officer in 1997 before becoming a full-time officer a year later. He became a detective in 2001 and later that year began almost 12 months of service in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Bonus returned to patrol in 2008. He was promoted to sergeant in 2009 and lieutenant in 2014. He retired on March 31, surrounded by family, friends and coworkers.
