The City of Maitland is hosting a community event from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, to help keep Lake Sybelia clean and beautiful. Volunteers are needed to gather litter from areas surrounding the lake. Snacks, water and equipment will be provided.
This is a casual outdoor activity that includes walking along city streets and sidewalks to pick up litter. Comfortable shoes, hats and cool clothing are recommended. High school students can earn volunteer hours for Bright Futures scholarships.
Check in by 8 a.m. Oct. 16 at Lake Sybelia Beach, 290 Jackson St. in downtown Maitland. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bring school community service forms to be signed.
