The City of Maitland will begin work Monday to rebuild an aged and badly fragmented sidewalk, improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians along a section of North Thistle Lane on the south side of Dommerich Elementary School.
The project is scheduled during the public school holiday break to minimize impacts to students and parents. Construction will remove about 1,000 linear feet of old, 7-foot-wide concrete sidewalk and an additional three-feet of concrete that was installed years ago to widen the path. A new, 10-foot-wide concrete path will be poured.
Work is expected to finish within two weeks.
